| alright, so, there’s a storm, and everybody caught in the storm got themselves some kind of magic power, based on whatever heightened emotions they were feeling at the time. so as a result of the storm rudy's got this thing, loosely termed as a power for the sake of argument, where he can split himself right in two. |

| i headcanon that rudy got the ability to split himself through undiagnosed dissociative identity disorder, and the manifestation of his insecurities as an entirely separate person is the storm's amplification of that, rather than (as some people think) a manifestation of his 'conscience'. anyway, the split usually takes place when he's feeling stressed or insecure. rudy too (the rudy that pops out) isn't bound by location to rudy, so he can go wherever the hell he wants. he can also function perfectly well with objects or whatever (i.e. he's not ghostlike) and actually comes in fairly handy from time to time. splitting looks like this, and 'sucking rudy two back in' (sorry, that's really grossly phrased, god) looks like this. |

| Q: when they split, does rudy have a telepathic connection with rudy too? are they mentally linked when apart? A: nope! Q: do they share memories when they're back in the same body? A: it depends. in 3x01 rudy wasn't aware that rudy too had been talking to tanya even when they were back in the same body, so i headcanon that it depends on whether or not they literally tell each other what they've been up to when apart. Q: what happens to the other one if one of them gets hurt? A: nothing. rudy too stabbed rudy in the shoulder with a pair of scissors in 3x01 and rudy too didn't have a mark or feel pain. also, [spoiler for 4x03] a sociopathic third rudy turned up, took over control of rudy's body and sucked rudy too in as well, and when jess stabbed him she asked him to let the other rudys go, and though he died the other two were both perfectly fine. |

| rudy was in a freak storm which gave him the quote-unquote power to physically split into two versions of himself, each with distinct personalities: an abrasive, arseholey type jack-the-lad and a deeply insecure, nervous and quiet guy (referred to as rudy too). |
